SUMMARY:Yard Sale & Market
DESCRIPTION:Spring is often associated with renewal and new beginnings\, making it an ideal time to focus on cleansing and rejuvenation. Whether it’s through external cleaning or internal reflection\, taking the opportunity to refresh and reset can be incredibly beneficial for overall wellness. \n Through cleaning the outer\, we de-clutter\, and with that there ends up being an accumulation of stuff. Some of the items include furniture\, books\, plants\, pictures\, linens and ornaments. We’ve transitioned to organic linens on the beds which aligns with our sustainability values and provides a more eco-friendly experience for our guests. \n A big purge means a yard sale happening May 18 & 19 / 9am-4pm. Come check out the treasures and the vendors. \nWatch our social media to see who’s joining us.

He sings his own lyrics and has written songs\, produced independent records and traveled\, playing shows in most Canadian Provinces and Territories over the years. His music could be described as ‘Folk’\, however\, it’s his lyrics and finger style guitar that stand out. Bending genres and making people laugh and stamp their feet\, singing along while they may not know the words to his songs. Some memorable performances include Winnipeg Folk Festival\, CD release parties and other shows at West End Cultural Centre. \n“Jeremy Proctor is a talented artist who successfully mixes a razor-sharp wit and an appreciation for wordplay with sadness and introspection. It’s his words that first made\, and continue to make\, the strongest impression on me. I was completely drawn in by the songs on this record; they make me wish that he came to play in Ontario more often.” Rachel Jagt\, Rambles\, April 26\, 2003

That is what motivates me as a promoter to book Tracy K to audiences of 30\,000 people; and most recently\, Tracy and Jamie to an intimate evening of 200. They brought a passionate charm to their blues tradition and know what it takes to move an audience.” – Marv Terhoch\, President\, Terhoch Associates\, Winnipeg\, Manitoba \n”We are always very pleased to have Tracy K & Jamie Steinhoff play\, as they draw a crowd from miles around. Their exceptional talent\, wit\, humour\, day to day stories makes the duo appealing and keeps people coming back.” – John Cox\, Green Achers of Wabigoon\, Ontario \nWhen chef Jamie “Snakeman” Steinhoff isn’t cookin’ in the kitchen\, he’s cookin’ on guitar. Now he’s outta the kitchen and cookin’ onstage! \nThe 2011 album “Canned Heat” introduces this lesser known bluesman guilty of preserving authenticity paired with award winning performer Tracy K. Known for wailing on harmonica and beltin’ out blues Tracy K’s desire to form a specific kind of acoustic duo was fulfilled after moving to Thunder Bay\, Ontario where she met Jamie Steinhoff. \nWoodshedding for decades\, Steinhoff’s dedication to folk & blues from the 1920s to 40s is revealed in his swampy Delta slide and Piedmont finger style guitar work and gritty soulful vocals. The duo’s steamy blues and lively rags\, contemporary originals and vintage gems in the blues-folk tradition make up their sound. The acoustic tracks from Tracy K’s repertoire find a home in this show amidst song choices unheard in her electric set\, and some of Jamie’s clever originals. \nTogether Tracy and Jamie have been recorded by CBC Radio’s “Bandwidth” and “Canada Live” and co-wrote an epigrammatic tribute called “This Axe is Your Axe” for Jowi Taylor’s Six String Nation Guitar tour. They’ve shared stages and billings with artists like Bill Bourne\, Rita Chiarelli\, Joey Landreth\, Terra Lightfoot\, Fred Eaglesmith and John Sebastian amongst other fine players. The duo became quarter finalists at the 2014 International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee and more recently completed a Home Routes Tour in Manitoba. They tour acoustic venues and festivals across the land packing some infamous homemade Tracy K’s Stolen Apple Jelly\, if there’s any left. \nTracy K has three other albums and appears on several other recordings and in two Hollywood films. Over the years the Toronto Blues Society selected Ms.K for performances at their annual Harmonica Workshop\, Women’s Blues Revue\, Talent Search\, and their Internationally acclaimed Blues Summit. Tracy K was commissioned by CBC Radio to write a song for “Canada Reads\, Ontario Rocks” and her band was recorded live in Ottawa for CBC’s “Canada Live”. \nTogether they are based in humble little Beausejour\, Manitoba\, where they garden\, enjoy nature\, canoe and kayak\, cross country ski\, and play music with friends. \nAWARDS \n2018 Western Canadian Music Awards\, Blues Artist of the Year Nominee \n2014 International Blues Challenge – Quarter Finalist\, Band \n2013 International Blues Challenge – Quarter Finalist\, Duo \n2007 International Songwriting Competition – Blues\, Performance Award \n2007 Ontario Independent Music Award – Best Blues Song \n2007 Toronto Blues Society Talent Search – First Runner-Up \n2006 Winnipeg Blues.com – Harmonica Player\, Female Vocalist of the Year \n2006 Winnipeg Blues.com – Electric Act of the Year Nominee

SUMMARY:Feed Your Soul Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat - Winter
DESCRIPTION:“Ahh. Take a slow\, deep breath…winter is here. Everywhere around you the natural world is withdrawing\, going dormant\, and embracing a long\, dark\, season of slumber. The stillness that characterizes winter signals us to redirect our own energies inward. It is a time to rest and reflect. Winter is considered to be a kapha season with strong vata undertones. However\, in the Canadian Prairies\, vata is a strong component of winter. So overall\, it is recommended to follow kapha and vata pacifying guidelines during winter. \nAyurveda teaches us that like increases like and that opposites balance. The seasons are characterized by the cycles of vata\, pitta\, and kapha. Maintaining good health and balance during all four seasons requires living in harmony with the doshic cycles. The food we eat\, the type and amount of exercise we do and the clothes we wear\, should all correspond to the seasons.

SUMMARY:Feed Your Soul Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Yoga\nWe will be moving through the practice of water namaskar and moon salutation. Both yoga practices help cool the body in the hot summer months. The benefits are: \n\nBringing more fluid movement into your body\nPouring your spine forward\, allowing the neck to have freedom\nBalancing vata and pitta doshas\n\nSelf Care\nMarma therapy is an ancient Indian practice whose focus is the manipulation of subtle energy (prana) in the body for the purposes of supporting the healing process. Marma therapy is based on the utilization of 107 points in the body which are considered to be access points to body\, mind\, and consciousness. \nMeditation & Breath\nWe will be exploring different types of meditations from silence to chants\, and movements. Our featured meditation will be the water meditation. \nBreath will be focused on the Sheetali breath. The word “sheetali” means cooling in Sanskrit\, it is taken from the original word “Sheetal” which is soothing or cold. The practice of sheetali breathing calms the mind\, reduces the stress or fight-flight response. It cools the body and mind\, The blood pressure is also lowered. This pranayama is very effective in hyperacidity or even ulcers. \nWe will also practice the single nostril breathing. This technique isolates one nostril. For the summer months\, we are targeting the left nostril\, which is called the Ida Nadi (“subtle channel”)\, which is the body’s cooling channel and is located on the lunar side of the body. Plug the right side of the nostril and breathe in and out through the left nostril for 5-20 breaths. \nFor more information\, retreat itinerary\, and bookings\, please visit Calder House\, our partner in this event

Spanning the range of Roots based genres\, Driving By Candlelight is the consummate showcase of their unique fusion of backgrounds\, perspectives\, and influences with 13 new original songs “pondering contemporary subject matter with vintage sensibility.” \nBeyond the synchronicity of their meeting\, Dan and Laurel’s backgrounds\, musical palates\, and even their personalities\, make both an unexpected and extraordinary match. Fans note the sense that one is witnessing an outpouring of color\, creativity\, and artistry far more textured than the sum of its parts. Though each artist had a drastically different style of musical training and were influenced by contrasting musical backgrounds\, their commensurate dedication\, experience\, and the ways in which they inspire each other to grow and evolve musically\, make Dan and Laurel a dynamic and unstoppable team. It also helps them craft concerts which offer a bit of something for everyone and it’s not unusual for the duo to hear that they turned someone who doesn’t typically like “folk music\,” or “songs with vocals\,” or “original music\,” or “instrumentals\,” or “violin music” or “acoustic music\,” etc. into a fan who plans to go out and support live music more frequently. That’s an incredible feeling! \nDan and Laurel are quickly finding their niche on the North American and European folk circuits. However\, hard work and dedication are only a facet of their relationship; as those who meet and hear them soon discover\, “there is something incredibly romantic about these two and the way that their love story is told through their music.” Whether refueling back home\, or creating their home on the road at various tour stops around the globe\, it’s clear to people who witness these two that their harmony extends well beyond the notes. \n  \nFAQs \n– Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? \nAll ages.
