DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, August 22 for an evening of live music by Ainsley Friesen\, wood-fired pizza and book a reading with our friend Maureen Morrish. This is summer vibes in Manitoba! \n \nSinger Songwriter Ainsley Friesen is always challenging herself. Her repertoire includes acoustic guitar-based folk songs\, piano-based\, jazz inspired melodies\, rock ballads\, and most recently\, her take on pop. Ainsley can be described as alternative folk\, with influences ranging from icons like Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks to contemporary artists like Natalie Merchant\, Norah Jones and Rufus Wainwright. \nClassically trained in piano and voice\, and a skilled guitarist\, she combines warm\, clear vocals with powerful and insightful lyrics. Lessons learned from life’s victories and defeats have infused her songwriting with a confidence and beauty that grow richer with time. \nAinsley’s music can be found on all listening platforms\, as she has released four albums\, two EP’s and three singles to date. Originally from Brandon\, and after living in Winnipeg for several years\, performing and networking\, Ainsley now resides in rural Saskatchewan with her husband and three dogs and one cat. After retiring\, she moved to her cottage in a small lakeside community\, where she lives with many birds and wildlife; her cats\, Olive and Girl Stan Lee; and her dog Sarah Jeannie. She enjoys fishing\, bird watching\, dabbling in writing\, and she is self-employed as a Tarot Card reader. \nShe has been a professional tarot card reader for 6 years\, and offers a 10 card Celtic cross reading with the Mythic Tarot Deck. It’s about bringing people together\, sharing what the land has given us\, telling stories\, making a little music\, having a laugh\, and staying a while. \nThis time\, we’re celebrating fall harvest\, fire and smoke\, with a menu inspired by the local bounty of the Whitemouth River Valley — ingredients grown and raised close to home\, prepared with care and cooked slowly over fire and smoke. 🍂 \n🌾 FROM THE LAND TO OUR TABLE\nFire & Smoke Chicken\nSucculent smoked chicken\, raised right here in the valley\, served alongside tender spare ribs\, slow-smoked and finished with our homemade BBQ sauce. \nMaple Baked Beans\nHomemade beans\, sweetened with Canadian maple syrup and slow-cooked over an open fire until rich\, smoky and full of flavour. \nLocal Corn on the Cob\nSweet local corn\, boiled and slathered with melted herb butter. \nClassic Baked Russet Potatoes\nFluffy baked potatoes served with sour cream and fresh chives. \nCardamom Carrot Cake\nA scrumptious homemade carrot cake\, warmly spiced with cardamom and topped with maple syrup icing. \n🍁 TO DRINK\n❤️ Flavours-from-the-land inspired mocktails\n☕ Trails End Coffee\n🌿 Wild Mint Tea \nAnd\, as always\, you’re welcome to bring your own alcoholic drinks.
