Melanie Gamache from Borealis Beading demonstrating the beading pattern on a messenger bag

What do you get when two Métis businesses collaborate?

A Beading Weekend at Moon Gate Guest House!

Introducing…

Melanie Gamache – Borealis Beading

A Manitoba Francophone Métis beadwork artisan began beading in 2015. Melanie has grown Borealis Beading from creating her own beadwork pieces to organizing and hosting Métis cultural learning experiences.

Upon Arrival

Enjoy some wild harvested tea & smudge ceremony.

Bring your own supper to prepare in our well equipped kitchen (or take-out on the way). Only breakfasts are included with your stay.

Once settled, enjoy the Finnish-Style Sauna before turning in to bed.

In The Morning

Enjoy a self-catered breakfast consisting of our wood-fired sourdough, locally roasted coffee with fresh eggs and homemade jam.

After breakfast Melanie will guide you through an introduction and the history of Metis beading.

Take your lunch break, breathe in some fresh air with a guided snowshoe tour on the frozen Whitemouth River.

In The Afternoon

Once you return, we’ll get back to beading, listening to and sharing stories. Creating art takes you back to a slower time and is therapeutic for the mind, body and soul.

Enjoy supper on your own and later, back in the sauna. Bring a musical instrument if you want to drum, rattle or sing in the sauna, or simply relax in peace and quiet.

The Next Day

Wake to the smell of fresh coffee brewing and enjoy the self-catered breakfast provided for you.

This is your opportunity to finish up your beaded project under the tutelage of Melanie.
